Story Behind the Art:
The town of Heriz is known as one of the most significant historical places in the Azerbaijan province. They are famous among collectors because of their soft earth-tone colors and geometric patterns. This particular rug was created in the Varanasi region of India, in the Bhadohi village, where weavers re-create the original Heriz design. These rugs are made by Mahmood Alam and his family. They are hand-knotted in their own homes, and everyone in the family helps out in the process of rug making, from his wife, Shakiba, to the youngest daughter, Jamila. They process the wool, themselves in their home, prior to making the rugs. All washing, spinning and dyeing of the wool are done in their home.

Beautiful
When buying oriental rugs online, one has to be conscious of the distance at which the rug photos is taken. This tends to heighten the color contrast and depth. Having said that, the rug met my expectations in every way.
- Did the color match the color displayed onsite? Yes.
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Good quality. The rug is of good value and one would have probably paid double the O price in retail stores. This is a good rug, not an excellent one. The thread count for example is not fine and the patterns are thick and not as refined, but that is perfectly fine given the price.
- How accurate was the sizing? Accurate
