    Story Behind the Art:

    Mahal rugs traditionally favor bold floral designs with spacious patterns and are made with pure and natural dyes in dark red, blue, soft green, gold and ivory. Their hand-spun wool is usually from the weaver's own sheep. Within wide, bold borders, Mahal rug designs are based on small repeating florals plus large scale all-over lattice vine patterns. Mahal rug designers simplified the designs by creating a special work of art with unique character. Mahal carpets have become carpets of the highest decorative value to interior designers and discriminating collectors.

    • Economical purchase

      This rug has a rusty wine colored border. The interior is more beige than I think that it appears online. The colors are not too stong; that's what we wanted. The size was true. The only issue that we found was dye spackled around the border, so maybe it is the case that you get what you pay for. Also I think that the cut of the rectangle is a little off; meaning that it is not created with perfectly straight lines. So, if you're looking for perfection, this may not be for you. However, it works for us because we are using it in a long hallway that has rustic looking tiles anyway. The rug is very thick, we are not even using a runner. It is heavy enough that it can be vacuumed and not sucked up into the vacuum. The price was great, so we gave it 5 stars regardless of imperfections.

      The runner was just as pictured and definitely lived up to the ratings in the product reviews. The quality of the rug was better than I had anticipated. It looks stunning down the hall on the Brazilian Walnut floors and white walls. The rust in the description doesn't really come through, but it is subtle and perfect for my application. It shipped quickly and was rolled up into a tight package that was sealed in a heavy weight plastic to protect it. After unrolling, the rug lost that curling on the ends really quickly.
