This group of artisans forms a small co-op of their own and the work is outsourced to them by various manufacturers. They live in small houses with their families or some of them (if single) live away from home and send back money to support their family in the villages. They are paid by the piece; their daily life is making and assembling jewelry, bell hangings and wind chimes. Most of them are now able to send their children to school. All these pieces are done/assembled in the State of Uttar Pradesh (in northern India).

Excellent Wind Chime for Potted Plants
This is a cute little windchime with a charming jingle. I've placed it in a basket affixed to a wrought iron gate and it also serves as a doorbell. This is a neat product and it feels good to be purchasing it from native craftsmen.
