'In the beginning, my older brother, Wayan Sukamara, taught me the various techniques of sanding and finishing. In 1974 I began to sculpt, taking inspiration from some of the finest statues and carvings of our region. The traditional forms and poses were of strong beauty and fine workmanship, which inspired me to learn this style.'

Wonderful
I really like this cross. I bought it as a Christmas gift and was very suprised at the quality of the carving and weight of the cross. It is really a beautiful piece.

The cross had intricate carvings and demonstrates expert craftsmanship. Very happy with the purchase.

Beautiful Detail
When I saw this piece online, I knew I had to have it, and when I received it last week, and I was even more pleased when I saw it in person. The intricate carving is simply stunning, and the variations in wood grain and color make it unique. The cross is more substantial in size than it appears in the website photo, which really doesn't do justice to its beauty. The richly detailed hibiscus flower design adds a much-needed tropical flair to my home decor, and although it was pricey I think it was well worth the investment.
