Story Behind the Art:
Rosa Ariza is known to many as 'Dona Rosa' because she is a leader and role model for all the women of her very poor and violent neighborhood. Without finishing high school she started working for a leather company in Colombia. Her first job was to clean, but she quickly advanced to working on quality control and after 12 years was responsible for a complete production line. The company unfortunately failed, but out of hardship came renewed strength and perseverance. In 2002, she started her own workshop, beginning with just herself but rapidly expanding. In 2007 Sapia found her and immediately began a partnership with some products made for domestic market and others for export. The quality, and commitment of Rosa has been the key to be able to growth the sales.

Quality Fair Trade Messenger Bag
I am so happy with the look and feel of this Worldstock product. I am very tall so this is not a cross-body messenger bag but as I am used to slinging bag over one shoulder it works perfectly. Strap and sides are sturdy fabric material and I must say I would prefer leather strap. Nice inside zipper pocket and entire bag zips closed under flap. Overall, simple and chic!

Just what I was looking for
I have been wanting a smaller size leather messenger bag to use when traveling and this suited me well. It's on the "rugged" side, not a sleek professional look, but I wanted something sort of artsy and hand-crafted. As other reviewers have noted, the strap, sides and bottom are webbing, sort of seat belt like. The leather's thick, but not too stiff given how thick it is and will likely soften with time. The color has some variation in it, but again, I like it that way. It's going to show wear, but I like that too. Good bag, but read the reviews and know what you are getting, or I could see someone being disappointed. I was pleased to be buying something handmade that supported a small scale industry in Colombia.
