This is like 3 slabs of wood hinged together. I expect lacquer pieces to be light and some what shiny. This is flat black paint with a beautiful design painted in gold. It does look pretty and serves the purpose of hiding the fireplace. It is very heavy.I would have expected a $100.00 price tag.
