Story Behind the Art:
Long before the Spanish arrived in the Yucatan Peninsula, the Maya preferred to sleep and rest in hammocks. They considered the hammock to be like the loving embrace of a mother, due to the comfortable manner in which the body is held and swung within its cradle. Maya Artists of the Yucatan hand-weave stylized versions of the original Maya hammock. For them, the hammock is a work of art. Their hammocks are incredibly comfortable, easy to maintain, and may be stored just about anywhere.

Nice hammock!
I looked for awhile for the right hammock as not all hammocks are created equal. This hammock lived up to my expectations. It's very well made and has a tight weave which seems to make it more comfortable. There are extra ropes and hardware as well as specific instructions as to how to hang the hammock and the instructions and pamphlet that came with it gives you the sense that a lot of pride went into making this hammock. I'm very happy with this purchase.
