I stage barrier island cottages for sale in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. And so, one might easily assume that if a hammock seemed appropriate, I would immediately buy a Pawleys Island hammock at any number of local vendors because it is a product that is not only tried and true, in terms of durability, but also is a recognizable icon, in design terms. One might ask, then, why I would challenge the axiom that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" ...... and that would be a fair question. The answer is that the classic SC hammock was designed for a porch that has really generous proportions ..... proportions that were established long before there were barrier island townhouse and condo complexes, where every reduced inch counts, in terms of buyer (or renter) perception. And so, when I saw this hammock, I rejoiced -- as it seemed to be the answer to the condo reduced scale conundrum. However. Having ordered and finally received this hammock, here is the good news and the bad news from my admittedly niche-oriented view: 1) the hammock took way too long to arrive.... long weeks when, every day, in multiple venues, I could have bought, that day, a classic though far more crude hammock design; and, 2) The instructions for installation were ridiculously inadequate. Which was OK, for me, because I am hammock savvy. But which would frustrate the average buyer, particularly when he, or she, had waited so long to receive the hammock. So. If you are resourceful, in terms of proportion and installation, this is a truly lovely, delicately-scaled hammock that does, in fact, answer the scaled-down requirement of condo spaces and does, as promised, deliver a shimmering hammock that invites occupation. But. If you are a for sale/or rental condo owner for whom the bottom line -- whether in terms of delivery time or in terms of ease of installation -- then, this hammock may be more trouble than it is worth .... unless you also want, as I do, to support all the vendors, elsewhere, whose products may trump convenience. So. You may not be happy with the delivery schedule. You may not be happy with the hapless instructions. BUT. YOU WILL BE HAPPY -- REALLY HAPPY -- with the end result ..... a hammock that does not dominate, but which welcomes and lulls, quietly.
Don't waste your money on this piece of crap. The instrcutions are terrible. The material looks like it was woven by a blind one armed man and the instructions are pretty much useless. The proper installation accessories are not included.
The hammock is comfortable and easy to hang up. A little smaller than I expected. The picture shows it pulled open. It hangs closed, and you must pull it open to begin getting in. Once in, very comfortable though.
