Story Behind the Art
These rugs are hand-knotted by nomadic weavers and sheep herders traveling along the countryside. These artisans pass on the rich traditions of raising local sheep to harvesting the premium wool to handcrafting these rugs from generation to generation. They artisans have imported looms and techniques of revered Aubusson crafters from France to recreate these Aubusson rugs down to ever last detail. Aubusson rugs have a rich and romantic history stemming from the Renaissance period from the town of Aubusson, France. The vast heritage and romance has been passed on and now passed to artisans in China to keep this treasured art alive to replicate this treasured rug.

Luxury and beauty
I wondered what the difference was between a $2000 carpet and a $400 carpet and if the higher price would be worth it. The $2000 carpet is hand made with wool and the $400 carpet is machine made with synthetic material. The wool has a soft feel to it and the sythetic has a harsh feel to it. The design and colors of this rug work perfectly with my room furnishings and finishes. And yes! it's worth the extra money.
