Set on a background of peaceful swirls of life next to a bamboo stand with a branch of plumeria flowers overlaid separately in 3D, this detailed carving is a rendition of the silent Buddha. Finished in rich, hand rubbed golden oak tone natural oil, the more it is buffed the more lustrous the surface will become.

Story Behind the Art
Dusadee & Virod Prawkao
Dusadee and her husband Virod have run this family carving business for 6 years. Virod is more of the artistic side interpreting images for wood carving. He is mainly inspired by his Buddhist reflections to carve images in wood. To make most panels involves three separate panels that are joined on the back by bars. Then the image is traced onto the panel by hand. Carvers work while looking at the original on the wall to create the 3D image. In order to not waste wood the nose is a separate piece that is attached by screws on the back side. After drying the separate panels may bend or warp slightly. The bars are removed; edges planed some, and then rejoined. The carving is then chiseled and sanded to blend as well as possible
