Long before the Spanish arrived upon the coasts of the Yucatan Peninsula, the Maya preferred to sleep and rest in hammocks. Today both men and women hand-weave magnificent and unique hammocks with colors and patterns created by our design department. This way we are able to fulfill our objective: to make a decorative article that will also provide a comfortable rest.

Well made/great VALUE
This hammock not only looks great, but is well made too! We bought a 2 person hammock for much more than this from a hardware store chain and had to return it because the knots started to loosen when we got in. Not the case here-- that's the amazing thing because the threads are so thin and silky, but there are so many of them that they cradle two people perfectly. It's like laying on a cloud. I would definitely recommend this, and also recommend bringing it in after you use it-- we do and it has stayed in perfect condition (we've owned it 8 months).

Need to know
Previous reviewers who gave this hammock a bad rating need to know that this type of hammock is intended to be used the opposite way they are used to lying in a hammock. The user must lie across what seems like the width and not the length. When you spread the netting out with your head, torso, and legs the net spreads out wider than the actual length and is extremely comfortable. The larger version actually accomodates two people and if they lie opposite each other they will have a cozy conversation place! Back up to the hammock's center and pull opposite edge of fabric netting up over your head, then sit in the center of the netting while you push off the ground with one foot and spread the netting edge out away from you with your other foot. Voila, you will have a slight swing and sway while you drift off to dreamland! Shoes are a no-no as they might damage the netting. I have had several of these over the years and I am giving this one a 5 star rating because the copper glow is so beautiful.

hammock is a winner
I'd order this again. It's very well constructed and plenty big enough. I was surprised it came in such a little box and was afraid it'd be mangled and tangled. But it was packaged very carefully and didn't need a big box since there is no bar. My husband wasn't crazy about no bar because it kind of falls close to you, but if you adjust you can be comfortable in it. I love having no bar. It gives you more workable space and it doesn't flip you out before you're ready, like the ones with bars do. Nice color. We put it under a porch so it doesn't get weather damage. If it was real windy and raining we'd bring it in. Since there's no bar, that too will be a cinch, and we can store it easily until the weather permits putting it back out.

AWESOME HAMMOCK
My boyfriend absolutely loves it. He falls right to sleep in it and its not like your normal hammock, its silky and you can wrap your self in it like a cocoon. Its great and it doesn't crack or fade, we keep ours up all year long, on pine trees in the back yard. Love it

Best Hammock I've Owned
I've had a few hammocks over the years (all with the typical bars at each end). This one is outstanding and I much prefer it without the bars. My fiancé and I can both fit comfortably and have found it is best to lay diagonally with two people. I've logged a couple naps in it by myself and like how you can drape it over yourself like a cocoon. When I ordered it, I didn't realize it was a fair trade product, so the packaged letter explaining that was a great bonus.

Great looking hammock
The color of this hammock is beautiful. It's well constructed. It is a little hard to sit in and we've tried a few different angles, as mentioned in other reviews. I don't see how two people would fit in this hammock. Looks great though!

Relax!
We've had this hammock for over a year. It has gone from a golden-bronze color (not really copper) to a slightly green bronze color as it is outside constantly, but that doesn't bother us. There are no pulled or broken strings, so it's great quality. It holds both my husband & I at the same time easily (~370lbs). We do have to lay in it crosswise as it is designed. It is not a lengthwise hammock with a spreader bar that most Americans are familiar with, which works great for our narrow porch as it collapses into a narrow rope of fabric. It did take us a little bit to figure out the most comfortable way to lay together & separately, but we have thoroughly enjoyed this hammock!!!
