Story Behind the Art:
This Fair Trade jewelry is created by indigenous Mayan women of Lake Atitlan, in the Guatemalan Highlands. Drawing upon the master weaving techniques that have been a part of their culture for generations, these women skillfully handcraft these beautiful pieces, combining contemporary designs with ancient traditions. As a Fair Trade program, the group of over 50 women currently participating are paid a fair, sustainable living wage for their work, allowing them a preferable income opportunity.

I looked at this bracelet several times before ordering and each time it was just as lovely as I remembered it. When I read that it was part of an organization that helped women from under developed countries to provide a living for themselves I knew I had to order it. I'm very glad I did.

Absolutely Gorgeous!
Beautifully intricate beadwork on this bracelet - it looks even better in person than the pictures show. The colors were exactly what I was expecting, and the quality is great. I especially loved the information that was sent with the bracelet that gave me some details about the artisans responsible for creating it. It's a great touch, and makes the bracelet even more special to me.
