    Story Behind the Art:

Sandra and Lily Indacochea are a mother and daughter team. Joined not only by family ties, they share a passion for art. They are both self-taught. Lily recalls when she was a child she developed an unexplainable fascination for all kinds of stones. One day, when she was playing she cut herself with an arrow. She kept the piece in her hand and treasured it for life, not knowing the stone's true name: obsidian. Now, many of her designs mainly feature obsidian. Sandra loves to hear this and similar stories, thus her fascination for gemstones and the mysterious powers attributed to them. Mother and daughter resolved to join forces and find out all they could about gemstones. It's been a few years since they began formally designing and crafting jewelry, and they have been met with a large acceptance. They are also continuously invited to present their work at exhibitions and craft fairs.

Novica
Since 1999, Novica has been connecting artisans around the world by providing them with a network to sell their fine products, often handmade, in regional marketplaces and online. This revolutionary company, whose name comes from the Latin word novus, meaning new, has partnered with National Geographic to create a fair-trade program that benefits artists in a variety of countries. Each artisan can set prices for their products and change them at will, and there are no fees for listing items on Novica's website. This allows the artisans to remain independent and make the most money from their items, whether they sell Novica home decor pieces or craft beautiful canvases sold in the Novica art gallery. Support global artisans when you purchase products for both inside and outside your home, including Novica patio furniture and Novica kitchen linens and decor. You may also learn more about the person who makes your favorite items and the places where they are made.
Sustain Novica's extraordinary fair-trade program when you buy dishes and serveware for your dining table. Novica dinnerware is made of quality materials, including ceramic, porcelain and stoneware, and many plates and bowls feature vibrant colors and exotic patterns that can dress up any kitchen. You'll also want to check out Novica glasses and barware to complement your dinnerware and fit your lifestyle. Look for stunning hand-blown glass goblets you can serve water or fresh lemonade in and be sure to check out the selection of boldly colored shot glasses for your home bar.
No home would be complete without Novica serveware, either. A hand-painted ceramic soup tureen will look great in any kitchen, and a blown-glass pitcher adds an elegant touch to an outdoor party. Impress guests with Novica garden decor, including beautiful iron welcome signs and charming ceramic flowerpots. Novica jewelry also makes a wonderful gift for friends and family, especially handmade Novica bracelets and necklaces.
Because of its partnership with National Geographic, Novica is able to present beautiful images of individual artisans, their products and the places in which they live to customers all over the world. Take advantage of this program and buy unique items from Novica for your home. One purchase will support an artisan's efforts and allow him to continue producing quality products in his homeland.
