I was disappointed with this chess set. It seems to be cheaply made, especially the wooden board.

This was suppose to be a gift but I changed my mind after receiving it! Due to the fact it looked like someone else had been using the set with all the scratches and nick on it. Didn't want the person to think I was giving them something used.

The chess set was a replacement gift to my oldest son. Who did not receive one a Christmas (ordered from a different establishment) it turned out better than the one's I purchased for my other children. Very elegant.

I don't really believe this set is up to your standards. The boards on all 3 sets I finally received were not level and there were broken pieces in the first set. It actually took 3 sets to get a complete set. We used the board from one set and the pieces from another to make it work. I still had to touch up a couple of the black pieces with a marker due to tiny chips showing white. This is the first time I have had this type of experience with Overstock. It was handled well on your end and the replacement issue was relatively pain free. I won't order this Chess set for anyone else as a gift but it doesn't diminish the track record over an eight year period with Overstock.

This set is much smaller than it appears online. It could almost be categorized as a 'mini' chess set. It is, however, beautiful and well made. This chess set is for my eight year old son and I'm a little apprehensive about how the size of the board will affect his game. This may become our 'travel' set while we purchase a larger board for home use.

I would go with the 12" it's nice, but it could be larger! Also it doesn't come with felt pieces

The product is good enough quality. I wanted something that wasn't too big and could be displayed on a mantelpiece. This meets that goal.

I was quite excited to see the chest set I ordered as a gift. But when we unpacked it and opened it up...quite a different story. It was much smaller than advertised and one of the pieces was broke when we opened it. Quite disappointing-- not very sturdy.

This set is well-crafted, solid, and pleasing to the eye. One can certainly see that the pieces are hand-crafted (minor differences in the pawns, slight imperfections in the trim pieces), and yet this does nothing to detract from the overall appearance of the set. Delivery was accomplished on the third business day, and in excellent condition. This is a set worth putting on display.

While I like the appearance of the chess set pieces. The board/storage case seemed cheap, especially the hinges. They seem like they will fail fairly easily. Also, the chess pieces were not carved from a solid piece but from two pieces. I had one chess piece that broke and I had to superglue back together.

This chess set is awesome. We bought it for our 12 year old who loves chess. We read all the other reviews, and took the advice to put felt on the bottom of the pieces to prevent chipping or scratching and it works great!! The pieces still fit in the case, too. My son thinks this is the best gift he ever got. He take it out sometimes just to look at the pieces. We also gave him the story of how the set was made. It seems a little fragile, but we will just be careful with it. It was definitely worth the price and it was a great gift!!

Bought this as a Christmas gift for someone I know. It is a beautiful set to just have sitting around or using if you're a chess player. If not already a chess player nut, I'm hoping this guy becomes one and uses this beautiful set.

I was very impressed with the quality of the chess set that was sent. It was beautifully made and the pieces were kept in a soft protective coating, each carved very nicely. The only minor hitch was that the top of the black king and queen were slightly scratched leaving a white mark against the black paint. Despite that the peices were beautifully made and the carving was exceptional, in addition the playing board is well designed and put together and holds the pieces well.

I was very happy with the quality and the price of the Carved Soapstone chess set. It was reasonable priced and beautiful quality. Details of the chess pieces were wonderful.

After reading the reviews I decided to buy it, but I was so disappointed when I received. The board/storage case was cracked and falling apart, seemed cheap especially the hinges. the board has scratches. I do like the pieces, which are beautiful but the box was put together very poorly.

The chess set was less than what I expected. It was very small and I received it damaged (broken chess pieces). I will be returning this item.

According to the astrological calendar, Gemini is the third sign of twelve, is an air sign, and is represented by "the Twins." What do these facts mean? If you're shopping for a gift for a Gemini, the facts about their sign might just point you to the perfect gift.
