Story Behind the Art:
These screens are hand-carved from Mango wood, which is a sustainably grown material. They are carved by hand from the most recent generation of expert carvers in the Thar Desert region of north west India. They are finished with a white wash, then a burning process that gives them a rustic aged feel, they are finished with a wax process. Handicrafts have transformed this region of India from a military economy to that of an export economy, providing handmade furniture all around the globe.
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.

Our front door opens into our open living room & dining room. I use this to separate the spaces. It is longer & higher than most and not flimsy at all. When it arrived I had to straighten some of the panels very slightly. It comes all put together but each panel can slide out if needed.Read More
Its even more beautiful in person then on the website. I just love it and am very pleased with it. I couldn't stop staring at it I thought it so beautiful!Read More
This is exactly what I hoped for. It is wider than a shoji screen I have, which only has 3 panels. This has 4 panels. so it can be unfolded into a very stable room dividing screen. I have kids and pets, and my shoji screen was just too delicate. This is heavy and durable. I went with a South Asian influenced decor for my living room, and this piece really sets the mood for the whole room. It is so solid- like an exotic architectural detail. I LOVE IT! The light comes through, showing off the intricate hand-carved details. Now the bad news: Not meticulously carved, like many things handmade in India. The carvers, I am sure, rush to crank out as many pieces as they can, so the finer details suffer a bit, but I doubt that most people would even notice. It also arrived very dirty- I had to clean it first with the vacuum cleaner, then with a damp rag, which it stained dark brown. It smelled of diesel fuel, which may actually be used as an insect deterrent on the wood in India, as it is in many developing countries (lead?). That said, I really do love this, and in spite of the minuses, would buy it over and over again. I also like the fact that I am helping contribute to development in India with this, as it is handmade. India's manufacturing is still labor-intensive, so some guy was able to feed his family by me buying this..Read More
excellent quality. you will have to wipe it a couple of times. i think that as soon as it was stained they put it in the plastic and then shipped it. but overall, this is an excellent piece. i am using it as a headboard. oh yeah, each panel is 22" wide, so the whole piece is 88" wide NOT 80" WIDE.Read More
I use this screen to separate my office from my living room and it works great. No more showing off my office clutter to every visitor! :) The screen arrived with a small part of one of the panels broken but it was easily glued back in place and completely unnoticeable. Understandable when shipping an item this size. It was also a bit dusty, but once you have wiped it down and set it up, you'll fall in love with the details.Read More
Absolutely love this. Seems larger than the pic. detailing of craftsmanship is lovely. Would def, recommend this product, great value for the $.Read More
I was excited to receive this screen. The box was very heavy because the screen is solid wood. The carvings are beautiful and the length is perfect; however, the stain rubs off on your hands anytime you touch the screen and it has quite a few loose pieces of wood. Also, the screen is not hinged properly, making it uneven to the floor. I was disappointed in this product. The only improvement I could make to it was to buy my own wood stain and stain all four panels. It still looks slightly lop-sided, but that only becomes evident after you stare at it awhile.Read More

how can a product be 66 in H (high) and 80 in L (long) ? cut and paste from product details it says; "66 in. H x 80 in. L x 1 in. W" What is the hieght and width?
This item is 66 inches from top to bottom; 80 inches long from left to right when it is flat, around 76 when it is as pictured; the one inch width is referring to the thickness of the wood itself. That is the width when it is flat.
Popular Types of Quilts
Out of all the bedding made, quilts may be the most diverse. Quilts are produced in all kinds of colors, patterns, sizes, styles and types. If you're looking for a quilt but don't know where to start, take a look at the popular types of quilts below to learn more about this beautiful kind of bedding. Amish quilts: These beautiful quilts reflect the Amish way of living and feature solid colors, deep hues, geometric patterns and very little embellishment. Amish quilts contain the highest quality of construction and stitching, and, sometimes, the wonderful stitch patterns (scrolls, feathers) contrast with the simple backgrounds of their quilts. Applique quilts: These quilts use a French needlework technique where fabric pieces are sewn onto another piece of material to create a design. Applique is used extensively in the quilting process and is not to be confused with patchwork. Patchwork pieces are joined together; applique is sewn on top of the whole piece. Baltimore album quilts: Baltimore album quilts came from Maryland in the early 1800s. Each block in the design of these quilts is appliqued differently, often in ornate floral patterns. Bangladeshi quilts: These quilts are made with layers of Saree cloth. Saree cloth is silk cloth used by women of India to wrap and fold around the body as a garment. The cloth is usually 40 to 60 inches wide by 6 yards long. These quilts are used as bedding or as decorative pieces. Bargello quilts: Bargello quilts are created with offset squares in an up-and-down geometric "V" pattern. The small squares of different fabrics and the colorful designs make these quilts true works of art. Hawaiian quilts: Hawaiian quilts are not pieced, and they usually showcase a large, symmetrical applique in the center of the quilt. Most often the background is white or another solid color. Patchwork quilts: Patchwork quilts are constructed of many small pieces of fabric which are put together in an improvised or irregular pattern. This is a well-known quilt style, and examples of historical patchwork quilts are found in many museums. Ralli quilts: Ralli quilts, sometimes known as rilli quilts, are traditional quilts made in India or Pakistan. There is an abundance of embroidery as well as applique on the patchwork patterns. Star quilts: Star quilts are created with a large star shape, or several star shapes, dominating the pattern. Wedding ring quilts: Wedding ring quilts are crafted in a design of interlocking rings. This pattern goes far back in history: in the fourth century it was used to decorate drinking cups in Rome. Wedding ring quilts are highly popular and make wonderful wedding gifts. If you're looking for a gift to please an engaged couple, you can't go wrong with a wedding quilt. Bedding always makes a significant gift for the bride and groom, and a quilt with coordinating Egyptian cotton sheets can be even better. View All Quilts Back to Guides Directory View All Quilts
