I got these earrings and didn’t even removed them from the super cheap plastic bag it was stapled shut in. I turned over the bag and the earring was all faded and the color of a rusted penny. The title read "REAL ABALONE EARRINGS.” Odd, after I returned the earrings they changed the description to "natural shell.” It is NOT abalone shell. and don’t expect the color to be even as its either painted on or is a cheap film placed over a shell. Too bad, because if they were real and had tht color naturally as they are supposed to they would be beautiful. Also, they are less than a half inch in size. Much smaller than I had expected. They were returned!
My wife loves abalone jewelry. Unfortunately, though I selected matching earring and a necklace (in terms of color name), the earrings did not even come close to matching the necklace. In fact, the original order of earrings didn't even match each other, let alone a coordinating item of jewelry. I am a biologist and understand that natural things never match perfectly, but typically, jewelers will sort through a great many gems in order to find matching colors for matching items. This did not appear to have taken place. CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT! It's just a shame that I had to invoice the customer service department in order to resolve my issue. After a replacement pair of earrings was sent, that pair matched the necklace I bought quite well. I comment Overstock on handling the situation well, but am disappointed that the situation occurred in the first place. I suppose the moral is "caveat emptor" here.
