I really do love this lamp. I've had it for 3 years now. Two things; 1. it's not a floor lamp, it's simply not tall enough. I have it on an oversized end table in my living room and it looks beautiful. 2. it burns hot. The placement of the bulb is odd and off to one side of the lamp, it will burn the side of the lamp if left on too long. The switch is in an equally odd spot and you have to lift the lamp a bit to get to it. I'd still recommend it though.

I like unique/odd items and the lamp is one. It is a great floor lamp that adds adequate lighting to a small space. I must add it is a great conversational piece. The only problem I have with the lamp is the on/off switch is under the lamp. Tilting the lamp to turn it on/off may caused the bulb to tilt onto the covering (fabric) -- which can caused the bulb to scorched the fabric.

The only thing about it that I don't like is that there is no on/off switch on the base like a regular lamp. The on/off is on the electrical cord on the floor. Overall, it is a nice lamp for the money.

Since I had a five panel matching screen, I was really pleased when this end table arrived. It was packed extremely well...box in a box. It only needed a bulb and I had a very nice Asian corner in my family room. The switch is a floor switch, very easy to use. Great buy.

This lamp is unusual. It is not big, but fits well in my decor. Looks not as bright as in the picture, but pretty much the same. The light is very soft and decorative. The craftsmanship is ok. Arrived undamaged, but packaging can be improved. The lamp doesn't have a switch, so you'll have to buy and put one on as you probably don't want to plug/unplug it every time you use it. I give it four stars as I think the overall quality and design is just not worth a $100. You can probably get a similar lamp for $20 on a Middle Eastern market, but considering that it will cost a lot to bring/ship this thing from overseas anyway, maybe it is not that bad. And, for once, something is not made in China (the lamp is made in Morocco), so I am keeping it.

I always wanted a Shoji lamp and now I have a beauty. My master bedroom has a ceiling fan without lights, so I was relying on 2 small table lamps far from the door. I put the Shoji lamp next to the door and by using an extension cord, was able to put the on off button next to the high wall switch for the ceiling fan to turn on as I came in the room. The light casts a wonderful shaded glow in the room, very restful and relaxing, perfect for a bedroom retreat.

Bought this tall one and the smaller matching lamp-- put them together in a corner of our zen/modern asian bedroom and VA-VA-VA-VOOM!!!! Instant ambiance and very impressive. Ours has two 60 watt bulbs inside and provides soft, glowing light that illuminates easily by pressing on the foot pedal. So great that you don't have to bend down or reach behind to switch it on/off. This is a great way to lighten up a dark corner or make a style statement

Since it's hard to tell by the picture, I should mention that the bamboo is a dark brown color and the switch to turn in on and off is on the cord. It takes 2 regular bulbs; type A, 40 watt. The paper shade material is strong and would probably be difficult to rip/damage. The shade is fairly thick so the lamp won't give you a really brightly lit room. I bought it for use as a reading light so I wouldn't have to get out of bed to turn off the lights, and works perfectly for that. Not too bright, not too dim. One downside is that the base of the lamp is a light weight wood which makes it top heavy and if you've got kids or pets, it could easily be knocked over. I personally have mine against a wall and between my bed and nightstand so it's not an issue. Aesthetically, it's very stylish, elegant and well made. It's perfect if you're going for the Asian look. The picture on the website doesn't do it justice; it's very nice looking!
