Story Behind the Art:
The elder in a village coordinates several villages/families to get carvings done. They disperse the raw wood bought for each order to each group and then collect the rough carvings for delivery. Most carvers are just family operations and the carving is done when they can. There are cycles based on the rice or other agricultural seasons where they can only get limited carving done. Over the years they have developed designs that have become popular.

teak crap
this thing is CRAP! very poor quality, glued together loosely, and has a giant hole in the wood, plus it's all splintery - and NOT oiled like teak should be - to be waterproof and walk on with bare feet, i.e. bathroom accessory! I'm returning this thin ASAP!

Over priced
This product is way over priced and there is no good quality control. I purchased more than one. they come in with different thickness. Well, my plan is to use it for drying some clothes that I do not want to hang up. It works for that purpose. But one bar is too narrow. So, I got more than one. But they do not have same thickness. It is at most a functional piece. It you only need one piece. I guess it is OK.
