Story Behind the Art:
This quilted patchwork bag comes from a sewing cooperative in Kenya. At this cooperative, women of different ethnic backgrounds are working together to promote peace. The project allows the women to care for their families, improve their sewing and marketing skills, grow as a community, and share with each other. With each stitch, the women sew peace and hope into these vibrant bags. Their desire is that the peace they have found through this sewing project will be passed on to you, the owner of the bag. The patchwork of many traditionally patterned fabrics reflects the beauty and diversity of these women.
