i bought several of them to keep as gifts for friends who might be having babies. so far i have given two. they were very diffeent in color, one was like oatmeal, the other was a rich brown and almost looked like wood. they're sort of "cheap" looking. i half expected something a little nicer.

lovely piece, great detail. Mine is not all one color, but the variation makes it seem more unique.i'm thinking about buying more. they seem like a perfect gift to give someone just for the sake of giving.

My very pregnant daughter was in tears when she opened her gift. She loved the elephant and baby!

I got this as a gift for my best friend. The carving is very beautiful, but I was surprised at how easily the foot broke off of the elephant. As we were unwrapping it from the bubble wrap and brown paper that it shipped in, the right, front foot just broke right off. :( I was so sad. You would think that "stone" would be a little more durable.

The elephant in the inside was loss. It was made ok but not like others that I have purchase for lots less. Did not like the quility on it.

This was exactly as described, came in a timely manner and completely filled the need. It was bought as a gift and theperson that got it loved the details.

Please pay attention the the size of the product listed in the product specs. It is much, much smaller than I expected. I didn't read the specs. Based on the price alone, I thought the item would be larger. The item is carved with great detail, but the product pictured has more of an artistic detail than the one I received. Mine was much more geometric in the carved detail of the body. The color was hugely disappointing to me. I purchased the piece as an accent piece based on the color. The product pictured is quite yellow in color, and mine is mostly white, with large dark particles. The piece is nice, but smaller than I expected, and a much different color than I expected.

I'm an elephant lover/collector, so I bought this for myself and I adore it! It is very small, so be aware of the dimensions! When people visit, they MUST pick it up, it beckons you because of the craftmanship-and when they see the baby inside it always leads to ohhs and ahhs, and ultimately a discussion on how they did that!

I had read that overstock removed reviews but I really did not believe it until my review was removed as well. My mother collects elephant items, so based on the photo and reviews, I decided to buy her this elephant. The piece is tiny and looks like cheap plastic. The elephant does have great details but so do a lot of plastic items. I have purchased several things from overstock and have never been disappointed until now. I kept the elephant myself, because I would have been embarrassed to have given it to my mom.

I have seen pieces like this sell at art fairs for far more! The quality is suberb! Thanks Overstock!

This little elephant is utterly delightful. The intricate hand carving is fascinating. My pregnant grand-daughter adores it. Shipping and handling were perfect. I'm thinking of ordering another one to keep for myself. So I can peek in at the baby.

I was so suprised when i got this figurine, it had such delicate detail and my mind is still clueless as to how they could make the baby elephant on the inside so detailed too! it came as polished as a gem! unfortunatly in the mail it got little chips but they are so tiny you can only see them if you look closly, i would definatly recommend this as a gift or even for yourself!

I bought this as a gift for my mom, and now I'm considering buying myself a matching one. It's a lovely little figurine, and the one I received is a lot more ornate and artful than the one pictured. Mine has about twice as many little openings carved into the sides, in a sort of spiral pattern, and the elephant's face is more detailed with delicate carvings, as is the baby elephant inside as well. The soapstone has a polish to it, not a matte finish. A unique purchase! (And the packaging was very well padded for shipping.)
