Edmundo Contreras Aquise works in the andahuaylino (Andahuaylas) style. He uses painted glass and crackled finishes in a technique that is both traditional and modern. His motifs range from the pre-Hispanic, colonial, and ethnic to the beauty and culture of the Andean world and its wildlife.
"My art strives to be a testimony to history and tradition. With the danger of extinction of certain art forms, I represent them in hand-painted wood, glass and ceramic. These take the form of objects that are utilitarian and decorative, such as home furnishings, mirrors, vases and more. My dream is for my art to be known and appreciated outside my country."

Beautiful Artistic Mirror
Gorgeous. Large, quite heavy The frame is wood, I don't know why I thought it was metal. But the wood is better, more depth and weight to the piece. Bought for foyer area of new home we are building. It is going to be impressive. Love buying from Overstock, am going to be buying quite a bit of the decor items I need for the new house (rugs, silk plants, paintings, ceramics) and some furniture items. Expecially love the world stock art items, like this mirror.

Absolutely Stunning Mirror!
This is one really beautiful mirror!! The attention to detail in the reverse-painting is exquisite, and the size impressive. Despite the careful packing my first mirror arrived with a crack in one of the panels. Overstock replaced it without any problem. Guests never fail to compliment me on this lovely mirror. It totally "makes" the room. I'm very pleased with this purchase, and would not hesitate to recommend anyone to purchase it. Very elegant, and quite a statement, without being gaudy.

Exquisite
I was already familiar with the artist's work (from a box I purchased as a present and a mirror purchased by a friend), so my expectations were very high. They were met. The piece is truly exquisite - rich, earth tones and beautiful painting. It's also three dimensional, which is not obvious from the photo. I collect high quality crafts from around the world and this will probably always be one of my favorite pieces. This piece creates its own gravity !

This is absolutely beautiful! I bought it for my daughter and it arrived very securely packed and is a spectacular piece. If you choose to buy it, you will not be disappointed. The colors are deep and glowing and it is so unusual.
