I've always been a fan of nickel...that's what sold me on the chair. But even before I recieved it the color online was edited from "nickel" to "mirrored nickel." Yup. It is not the flat nickel finish of my dreams. Very reflective with golden rather than silver overtones. All that I could live with. The larger issue is material quality and construction: very light weight, tips easily...with sharp edges and protruding pieces of metal here and there...this is the main reason I am giving it such a poor review. I don't want parents of young kids to purchase it without warning. Even as an adult I am nervous about which points I pick it up to sit in it or move it...more than once a metal burr has snagged my fingers. Either it is a piece of art that sits there for the enjoyment of looking at or it is a functional chair. This is not both. That being said, the finish is growing on me and maybe there would be a chance of loving it were it not for those sharp metal joints and burrs. ...
I ordered 6 of these chairs in the bronze color...Based on the decor of my 1916 Tutor, the bronze was a perfect match to my accent furniture, and this was the only place I saw bronze as a color option for these bistro dining chairs. I have a long oak farm dining table with a bench on one side...these are a great addition, particularly because I can fit 4 chairs along the other side of the table. I have 3 kids and no eat in kitchen...every meal is at the dining room table. I was frustrated with the cracking/ripping leather of our parsons chairs. These chairs are not going to rip, not going to get stained...they are hardy and look great.
These chairs are durable/sturdy yet not bulky so they do not overtake the space they are in so the room feels more open. Put these into a room with nice wood floor or rug and you can see the floor past/through the chairs. The chairs came with an oil on them to protect them during shipping so I was nervous at first to use them. A simple wipe down with a damp cotton cloth and they are good to go for use without worry about your clothes or rug. Hard rubber stoppers came for the feet so attaching simple felt pads to the bottom from *** protect your wood floors.
Although 3 of the 6 chairs I ordered where rusted, they all cleaned up fine. I would recommend to Overstock to do a better job of packing and keeping the chairs out of moisture if they are prone to rust.
