This is a very solid piece. It looks just like the photos, except that up close you can really see how "rustic" it is. The wood definitely looks reclaimed, which was what I expected, but also there are small gaps in some spots between the wood and the metal frame, which is a little more unfinished looking than I expected. Also, it was shipped upside down with the interior shelves (one on each side) just lying in there, loose. When the delivery people turned it right-side up, the shelves crashed to the bottom. I imagine that in some cases they could break or do some damage with this kind of unsecured packing system. Altogether, though, the piece matches our general expectations and for us, it's the perfect item for the space.
I ordered these stool because they were slightly smaller than normal and fit an area at our house. I'm waiting on my fifth order. That's a total of 10 stools, and i have yet to receive one that didn't arrive broken. The way they are packaged sets the bottom rungs on top of the bottom stool. They break every time in transit. I would NOT recommend these to a friend for that reason. The stools are not a bad product, but I have to rate these how i receive them.
We bought this in 2010 and converted it into a double sink/vanity for our master bathroom. Because it's teak, it worked out very well. After three years of daily use, the only maintenance it needs is a bit of wax on the drawers to assist with sliding. The installation of the sinks on the top required just a drain hole, and the plumbing fits in either side because the compartments are large. So you still get the storage benefit there. Three drawers in the middle hold all of you bathroom related things.
If anyone is looking for a double sink vanity, this is an easy conversion and it looks fabulous!
I was a little disappointed when I received my stools. I ordered two in red. I was prepared for some color difference but the difference was greater than expected. Since there is no foot rest or bar on this style stool I rested my foot on the cross bar of the other stool. I was disappointed to discover that the paint pealed off the cross bar where my foot had rested. Under the circumstances I'm not expecting these stools to stand up to daily use at my kitchen breakfast bar. The four legs give the stools stability without a bulky look. I do think, however that the quality does not justify the price. I would recommend that you keep looking.
I've always been a fan of nickel...that's what sold me on the chair. But even before I recieved it the color online was edited from "nickel" to "mirrored nickel." Yup. It is not the flat nickel finish of my dreams. Very reflective with golden rather than silver overtones. All that I could live with. The larger issue is material quality and construction: very light weight, tips easily...with sharp edges and protruding pieces of metal here and there...this is the main reason I am giving it such a poor review. I don't want parents of young kids to purchase it without warning. Even as an adult I am nervous about which points I pick it up to sit in it or move it...more than once a metal burr has snagged my fingers. Either it is a piece of art that sits there for the enjoyment of looking at or it is a functional chair. This is not both. That being said, the finish is growing on me and maybe there would be a chance of loving it were it not for those sharp metal joints and burrs. ...
