Story Behind the Art:
'I started making hammocks thanks to my grandparents, who used to sell agave hammocks,' recalls Miguel Chitic, from Guatemala. 'We decided to try making them with cotton instead, because it is easier to work with it, and since it's softer it doesn't hurt your back. My grandfather taught me how to weave, so we also worked with other product lines such as bedspreads made with traditional textiles, and that's how we started making cloth hammocks.'
