Story Behind the Art:
The Association of Chaquiya Artisan Women was founded by members in 1989 to contribute to their family's income and bring food to their tables. Many were widowed during Guatemala's civil war. Originally a group of 20, they had all learned to weave at a young age. 'Through our work we've learned to pull though and be able to feed, dress and educate our children,' their president Cristina Par says.

Beautiful scarf
Beautiful scarf with brillant blue and aqua colors. It is a heavier cotton scarf and on the longer side (good for 2 wraps or big knot around the neck). Beautiful craftmanship in style of many Central American textiles.
