Story Behind the Art:
Deepak Pachauri is a 22 year old artisan from New Delhi who makes brass bracelets and other handicrafts. He started making handicrafts under his father's tutelage. His father was a farmer. His father learned from his relatives and started making on his own crafts as a way to supplement the meager earnings of the families' small piece of land. Deepak saw his father work and learned by practicing everyday. Today he can make any jewelry item from necklaces, to belts, to rings and beyond. He says it takes two days for him to make one brass bracelet. Deepak has three brothers and a sister. His younger brother and father are with him in the handicraft work. He is currently looking for a place where he could set up his own permanent shop.
