Solid, unique bench
Very solid, unique design. Low to the ground so check height. The hinges to the storage compartment stick up above the level of the bench but don't seem to effect comfort when sitting. Hinged storage area is spacious. Long-lasting piece of furniture.

Love this bench!
We have a narrow, cramped entry, but really needed a storage bench for mittens/hats/shoes for our young kids. The size of this is PERFECT for this situation, and the seating height works well for our 3 y.o. and even our 1 y.o. It is really attractive and very solid - we love the rustic detailing. I put one of my Guatemalan textiles on the seat and it is gorgeous. The color is dark, but is typical of the furnishings we saw in Central America. We have had no trouble with the finish, and the bottom of our bench, although not made of the same thick wood, seems to be fairly sturdy. Delivery was super fast, and it came very well packed. If you have a situation similar to ours, and like rustic, solid wood pieces, I would highly recommend!

A little disapointing
After having read the reviews of this bench,I was sure it was the perfect thing for that empty spot in our living room. Unfortunately, the first bench came badly damaged-no fault of Overstock, but the shipping choice probably should be oversize/parcel/by appt., instead or regular UPS. Overstock was quite good about expediting the second bench, at no cost to us. However, the second bench was poorly put together, the hinge is crooked and the top of the bench lays awkwardly. Regardless, the wood is very nice and the scrolled arms are attractive. Buy this at your own risk, I would say it's sort of hit or miss.

Pleased
I'm new to Overstock- pleasant experience in all. I ordered it on the 2nd and it was delivered by UPS on the 8th, which is impressive. The bench arrived already assembled. It's lighter than I expected, but really well made and cute to boot. There were a couple of scratches on the front from delivery, but nothing major. Very unique... I hope to keep this for a long time!

Not worth it
The description mentions that colors may vary slightly. Mine was all one color, very dark. Lid closed on one side and was about 1.5 inches higher on the other side, making it very uncomfortable to sit on. This product is NOT worth the money. I do not recommend it. I returned my product to Overstock.

So awesome
I get so many compliments on the bench. I have had it more years than I can rememeber. It started as a bench in my kids room and stored toys, then it got moved to my office and stored computer stuff. Later I built a window seat in my kitchen and it sits in the center as the coffee table and I just love it and get so many compliments. What a great little bench. I will never get rid of this and will pass it on to my kids. So useful and cool.

NOT WHAT I WANTED
I RETURNED THIS ITEM WITH NO PROBLEMS BECAUSE IT WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO WHAT I EXPECTED IT TO BE. WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE WHOLE ITEM. THE BENCH WAS NOT LEVEL, IT ROCKED WHEN WE PUT IT ON THE FLOOR. DID NOT LIKE AT ALL.

As soon as we added 6" bunn feet to this bench, it was more than adequate for our space. I am a designer and even I didn't notice that this bench's spec height included the arm height. If you can retro fit a standard bunn foot or fabricate one on your own, this is a great buy.

a beautiful bench
This is a beautiful piece of furniture. It's smaller than I thought it was, which actually works better for me, and it's somewhat roughly constructed, but it arrives in one piece, ready to go. We use it at the foot of our bed for blankets and quilts and the top gets covered with stuff -- a nice flat surface for stuff, actually. I like this piece a lot.
