Story Behind the Art:
Artisan Ketut Sukayasa was born to a farm family in a village in Bali. 'I'm the youngest of four children and the only one to become an artisan,' he recalls. 'After I finished secondary school, I decided to try and make a living from handcrafted art. I use coconut shells, bamboo, and other readily available materials. Then I also started to make decorative tableware. Although I've been creating handcrafted work for people to enjoy, I haven't had time to decorate my own home. I'm just too busy!'
