I just received this African wood chair today This chair is a show piece, but please wear gloves when you handle this heavy wood chair. The paint that is used rubs off. I don't know if lead paint is used or not. I tried to spray wax it, black paint came off on the towels. Hubby says leave it alone. This piece to me needs to be varnished or something used to set the paint. It is a conversation piece for sure. I would have given this piece a excellent rating but didn't because of the paint rubbing off. And no, I won't sit in it. weight/height/ low to the floor plays a big as to who sits in this chair.

First of all, it took a long time for this chair to arrive...when it did arrive, it was packed well enough but absolutely impossible to put together... I am experienced at putting pieces together and have successfully assembled very complicated items, but I could not assemble this simply because the holes did not lineup...at all! I should have listened to the reviews about the difficulty of putting it together and needing a mallet, but even a mallet could not help the situation! they suggest that you use wood glue, but I thought I would try to fit it together before actually placing glue...thank God I did that, otherwise I might not have been able to return it...as for the quality of the leather tooling and wood carving, etc. that was done very nicely, but overall the effect was more rustic than I care for...nevertheless, I would have kept it after waiting so long, but I can't sit in it if I can't assemble it... I again stress that I am pretty darn good at putting stuff together...mayb...

  • Odum Wood African Reclining Chair (Ghana)

This chair is for decorative purposes only. You could sit on it but you will hear cracking. It was not sanded well so can get splinters On the plus side, it is handcrafted and as such will find a place in my home décor.

  • not your ordinary rocking chair!

Wanted a rocking chair since I'm soon to be a new grandmother-But didn't want just a regular 'granny' rocker. Wanted something chic and stylish. Arrived in a timely manner. Before assembling, realized several required pegs were missing. Contacted customer service who handled my problem very efficiently and were very attentive to my concerns. Kept me informed while processing the replacements which arrived within a few weeks. Assembly was a bit more challenging than I expected, however I managed to assemble it myself and its fantastic. I've received many compliments for its unique styling and craftsmanship. Love it!

  • Colors more muted than pic, hard to assemble

These are beautiful, and less orange-y than the picture shows, but they were a major pain to put together. Even after assembly with power tools, they still have gaps where the arm meets the back of the chair; it would be completely impossible with an ordinary screwdriver. They are quite uncomfortable to sit on--hard as a rock, and feel unstable, like they might collapse if someone heavy sat in them. My kids love the bird (maybe a swan or a crane) carved on the arms.
