Product Features:
Pedro and his wife Maria come from a beautiful city renowned for its ceramic arts. 'My mother used to craft ceramic masks,' Maria recalls. 'One day when I was 12, I picked up a brush began to paint her ceramics. Nobody taught me, for no one in my family painted their masks. They just sold them for others to paint. I began painting on amate paper as well. Pedro and I always work together, toward a good education for our children. Love and hope keep us together and fill us with happiness.'

Beautiful Turtle
Any turtle lover would appreciate this. It is beautiful and has enough room inside if you want to use it to hold small trinkets and pieces of jewelry, though you may want to insert some form of lining so neither the ceramic nor the jewelry will take on damage. It is large enough to serve as a colorful end table or shelf decoration. I was afraid that it would somehow be damaged in shipping since it is a fragile piece, but to my delight it was packed very well and fully in tact.

Okay, I totally feel as if I ripped Overstock off by only paying $** for this turtle. It is absolutely gorgeous. The picture doesn't do it justice - seriously. I can't wait to give this to my sister-in-law for Christmas. I may even order one for myself. The paint itself is less shiny than in the picture - as if it doesn't have a glaze over it, but it by no means makes it any less beautiful. If anything, to me, it makes it look even more authentic. This arrived to me in just one week. Thanks, Overstock, you never disappoint me!

I found the turtle to be exactly as pictured ,or as I expected. The only thing that surprised me was that I have never bought a handcrafted item that was painted so perfectly. I don't know if they use some element of technology to get it like that (for example, a stencil) or if they are just really exacting. I'm using it in the living room, not as a jewelry box. It's a nice piece that adds warmth and color.
