    Story Behind the Art:

John Barrow says, 'It's part of my 'Folklore' series that is inspired by this beautiful country and its regional traditions.' Barrow creates this sculpture with hand-carved segments of cedar, mahogany and ishpingo woods, which he dyes with natural pigments. Born in London, John traveled to Peru in 1969. His contract was for eight weeks, but he is still there. John has always enjoyed woodwork, which he learned from his father. 'Living in Peru, I got to know a variety of beautiful wood types. When I retired, I was finally able to dedicate myself completely to my passion, carving! I have even designed my own machines and tools to help me work the wood in a different way.'

    • Great buy

This piece has great pastel colors. We found a number of these Peruvian sculptures on the site and settled on this one. Very pleased with all aspects of the piece. We are considering buying more of this genre.
