Story Behind the Art
Nyoman Mahayani grew up following his father step of becoming a renowned stone carver. He now helps a good portion of his village near Bangli on the island of Bali. Being able to earn a good, stable salary working locally without having to travel long distance for work in the city is much appreciated for him and his workers. It also permits him to invest more time around his family of three children.

Very subtle, matte black Buddha. Cast stone with crisp details.

Exactly as described, including the details provided by the reviewers. Love this piece. Nice size and weight. Actually placing it in nooks in my kitchen (for now). It is so cute. Looking to have a peaceful retreat and thought a Buddhist theme would be nice. Studying to make sure I also knowledgeable, with these statues as my inspiration. I actually like the black one more that the white, as the detail is very apparent though subtle. Both are quite nice though and you should be happy with either.

zI very much like this Buddha. It is a nice size for sitting on a planter or shelf which can hold a relatively heavy object. figure is very black so you do need to really look to see the features. The statue is made of concrete and black lava which I find seriously cool. The surface is not only very black but grainy. Quite unusual for garden statues and a good way to use lava and other natural materials.

Serenity
I am so thrilled with the quality of the garden buddha sculpture! It is solid and of significant weight, and it looks perfect in a corner of my garden. I have an antique buddha in my house, purchased years ago from Indonnesia, and one would have to be an expert to tell the difference between the genuine antique and my new buddha.

Style was lovely. However this pie e wS so tiny that it s impossible to display in your garden. Needs to be twice the size to be in scale. Too expensive for this piece. Black volcanic material like a plaster with a rough finish.

The statue is a very small casted mold (not hand sculpted from Indonesia) and made of a very flimsy and fragile looking blackened cement or sand-like material (not stone, as advertised). It is not worth half it's price. Very disappointing!

Garden Buddha
I love this Buddha in my garden. It's small enough to not be an eyesore.It's subtle in the middle of a cluster of wildflowers. I love it! And well-priced.
