Story Behind the Art:
'My name is Liem Hauw and I was born on August 31, 1969 in Java. I started to work in 1995 after graduating from the university. I worked at some residential projects and hotels. I began by opening an art workshop in Bali. I work with textiles made from natural materials such as fragrant root, sea grass, water hyacinth, and many others. Maybe God had planned this way of life for me. My works became recognized and I started to make my own curtains, blinds, floor mats, mosquito nets, cushions, table runners, etc. Now I also produce frames, vases, baskets, and lamps by weaving banana bark, sea grass, and others. I work in metal as well. I keep thinking about expanding my work by creating new designs.'

Gorgeous
These are beautiful! Such an original buy and so original. I get tons of compliments on them. My decor is traditional with a splash of shabby chic and these really look wonderful. They are very well made and really won't disappoint!

nice but smelly
I love the way that these placemats look and the color is beautiful. However, we can't use them because their smell is soooooo strong. You're not supposed to have fragrances around while you eat (i.e scented candles or sprays). It takes away from the food. I have washed these twice and the smell is still extremely strong. My husband can smell them from the next room. I was planning on using them for Thanksgiving, but now they are just a waste of money.

I received these really quick considering they are from overseas. They do have a grass odor, more so than I thought. They are airing out right now, but they look great. I am hoping my husbands sensative nose can adjust or the grass smell goes away. They were a great price & look good. Would recommend, as long as they understand they are made from a natural grass.

Love this product
The placemats are pretty durable, and my husband says the scent of the fragrant grasses reminds him of his trip to India. They complement our decor well.
