Barley Swirl End Table (Indonesia)

ordered 2 end tables. Upon initial inspection of legs etc, noticed that the wood appeared to have insect holes and bores, that aside the finish was great. Table top came apart in my hands, the glue holding the wooden parts had dried out and the tiny nails used to keep the pieces together were poking out of the wood. From the broken top you could see that the quality of the wood used on these table was really poor,more like tinder than furniture. Thankfully Overstock gave a full refund. Thank you Overstock!

The directions are pictures that number each piece 1 to 6. Top piece is 1, legs are 2 thru 5 and the shelf is 6. When putting it together you don't realize that each leg has to go into a designated spot and they are not numbered 2 thru 5. The are identified by numbers and letters which you don't realize because you can hardly see them notched into the wood and there is no indication of this in the directions. In fact when I couldn't get it together correctly I went back and looked at the directions for help and finally discovered this by examining each leg and then I saw the number and letter (a thru d). Also you will need a 10 year old child to put the nuts on. An adult male could not do it because their hands would be too large to get into the space where the legs go in order to put a nut on the top screw of each leg (legs have two screws and nuts each). Don't tighten the nuts too much because then the legs will be too close together and the drawer won't fit. Just hand tighten them. When I put the shelf onto the legs I had to actually redrill one hole in the shelf to get it to better line up with the screw that went thru the leg. Another leg was worse and I couldn't even find the hole using the screw that went thru the leg. I chose to just leave it as it was since the other three legs were fine and I was afraid if I redrilled it I might run into the hole and then have one big hole that wouldn't hold the screw. All in all it probably took me over an hour to assemble the table. At most, with better directions and more room for my hands, it should have taken about 15 minutes.

Ladies, do yourselves a favor, make sure you have a decent set of tools in your house. I never use the crap they give me to assemble things because no matter where you shop from, the tools you need to put things together are usually inadequate. Get a torque screw driver set with assorted bits for 10 bucks you'll never regret it. That said, wrench they provided didn't fit the screws for the bottom shelf well. My $10 tool had exactly what I needed and it wasn't a big deal at all. I had it put together in under an hour. I just love the table. It's sturdy. In person the wood is dark like pictured and it's
