Made from compressed bamboo strips, this colorful dish can be used for serving or decoration. This beautiful bowl stands on a pedestal and will make a lovely addition to any decor.
- Available in red and moss brown colors
- Each piece takes 45 days to complete (after the bamboo has been soaked for 6-12 months)
- Crafted of compressed bamboo from Cat Dang, Viet Nam
- Each piece is cut, shaped and smoothed by hand, as many as four times, and then polished repeatedly
- Measures 11.75 inches in diameter x 4.5 inches high

Story Behind the Art:
In the village of Tien Lu, the creation of baskets, lacquer ware and other handicrafts is an integral part of the community and culture, even causing a festival every year on August 21st. Domestic competition for the tourist market tends to cheapen both quality and the artisans' return from their work. This group, already with nearly 100 members, hopes to expand through Worldstock, bringing additional villagers into better-paid work in improved conditions.

Love it!
I love this pedestal! The color is more of a burgundy ... a darker red then the photo shows but very much in the red family. The photo makes it look almost candy apple red, but it's not-- it's a gorgeous color though. It has a very faint black in the color too.... which makes it match my decor brilliantly. If you buy this, you won't be disappointed. It's a very lightweight, beautiful piece.

Lovely decorative bowl
This bowl is beautiful , and really sets of anything one would choose to put in it. I filled it with fresh fruit and have it on my kitchen table. Something more formal in another room would work as well. I love it!

a flimsy piece of garbage
this item arrived broken. it was wrapped in a piece of paper, which was hardly sufficient. The item weighs about an ounce, and although the color is very nice, if you plan on using this bowl as anything more than a piece to LOOK at, it's worthless. I don't say that just because it was busted - but the cracks did allow me to see that it's half-hollow inside.

Lovely Pedestal Bowl
