- Each vase takes 45 days to complete, after the bamboo has been soaked for 6-12 months

Product Features:
Story Behind the Art:
In the village of Tien Lu, the creation of baskets, lacquer ware and other handicrafts is an integral part of the community and culture, even causing a festival every year on August 21st.
Wound bamboo comes from Cat Dang, Vietnam. The soaked bamboo is cut into very fine strips and pressed into a curve. The strips are then coiled outward from the center of each vase. A frame is used to achieve uniform depth and angles. After a coating of cashew oil-based glue, the work is left to dry.
Each piece is cut, shaped and smoothed by hand, as many as four times, and then polished repeatedly. It takes many coats of paint, and many more polishings, to bring rough bamboo to this smooth, glowing finish. These repeated, patient processes establish the level of quality of lacquer products.

Not good
This vase does not look at all like the photo: black with copper bands. Actually it is many narrow stripes of green, red, black and bamboo beige. It will not go with anything any of my family has; it looks like something from the Dollar Store. I would return it, but the postage would eat up half what I paid, so I plan to spray paint it black and then wipe some metallic paint on top of that. I'm very disappointed.

Lack-Luster
This vase is ok but that's it. The picture gives it a wow factor that is not there when you see it. The vase I received was dull; no sheen at all. The colors were not vibrant. It looks like someone could have purchased a basic vase and hand-painted it. It was inexpensive but not worth keeping. I will be returning it.

Beautiful Vase
This is a beautiful vase. Arrived really quick. Lighter weight than I thought, but goes well with my new room. The colors are better than the picture shows. Would recommend to others.

Beautiful earth toned vase.
This is sitting in my office center with a beautiful artificial floral arrangement. I made a vibrantly colored tropical arrangement to contrast the muted earth tones of this vase and it definitely makes quite the focal piece I was striving for.
