Jizo is the protector of children, expectant mothers, firemen, and travelers. Most of all, he is the protector of deceased children, including miscarried, aborted or stillborn infants. In Japanese folklore, Jizo hides the children in his robes to protect them from demons and guide them to salvation.
I Nengah Mahayani grew up following his father step of becoming a renowned stone carver. He now helps a good portion of his village near Bangli on the island of Bali. Being able to earn a good, stable salary working locally without having to travel long distance for work in the city is much appreciated for him and his workers. It also permits him to invest more time around his family of three children.

Lovely little Statue
Has a very few minor imperfections (large pieces of ash of about 3/4 to one inch lonf). It is still lovely piece and I am glad I have it. I exchanged the first one received because of imperfections. The second one isn't perfect, either. I still like the statue and would buy it again (and might do just that). It is a very heavy piece. As a garden statue, it would look nice standing in a pansy bed.

graceful Jizo statue
The all-weather statue of the bodhisattva Jizo is gracefully done: clean lines and well-crafted depiction which will grace any garden, especially one with Japanese features. I recommend two at least, in keeping with Japanese practice. Having looked at many Buddhist statues in sources online, I think this price is a bargain for the quality and size.
