Anita Altamirano was born in Ambato, Ecuador. She owns a factory where several native Ecuadorians from a tribe called 'Salaca' handcraft and hand-weave each individual piece. The 12,000 Salasaca people live in the center of the Andes in Ecuador and speak Kichwa. The Salasacas work principally in agriculture and indigenous art, which they learn at a very young age. One identifiable cultural characteristic of the Salasacas is their tapestries with hand-woven designs and motifs. Many tapestry designs tell their life stories. These tapestries are all handmade of natural wool, spun, dyed and woven. Creations depict the culture and traditions of the native tribes in Ecuador.

Nice, but small
My daughter really liked the backpack. Nice quality and loved the design. The only problem with it is it's very, very small. Not big enough to serve as a school backpack. It would help a great deal if you would include the dimensions of your products on the site. It's impossible to determine the size simply by looking at the picture on the screen.

I wanted a small, colorful backpack for our trip to New Mexico. It is exactly as pictured, bright and roomy enough for the day's necessities. Definitely, a bargain.
