Story Behind the Art: The artisans of Tecalpulco, Mexico have long been known for their silver and abalone jewelry. Art Camp, short for Artesanas Campesinas or rural women artisans, is a women-owned cooperative that continues this tradition. The women have become business women, understanding the importance of customer service, quality and design. The jewelry product range includes semi-precious stones, shells or tiny flowers captured in resin accentuated by silver alloys or precious metals. The tradition of fine Mexican jewelry is present in each piece.
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.

Hypoallergenic Hook, Alpaca Silver , resin and stone inlay
I didn't pay attention to the size description, so they were a little longer that I prefer. The colors are just as the picture shows--really vivid. I love gemstone jewelry and these fit right into my taste and budget. I would definitely recommend them to a friend and I will purchase again in the future
Did the color match the color displayed onsite? yes
How is the quality of the product? exactly as shown
On my earrings the length of the teardrop is 1 inch with the widest part of the teardrop measuring 3/4 inch. These earrings have a variety of colors in them. Only upon close observation does one see that this is caused by the inlay of 6 different stones, the same color and position in each earrings. They are not for newly-pierced ears as there is a small weight to them.
I purchased these earrings with the Alpaca Silver Inlaid Stone Turtle Pendant (Mexico). All three are a good match.
Did the color match the color displayed onsite? Some of the colors matched.
Please tell us about the quality of the product. I feel this product is of high quality.
I ordered these earrings for a Christmas gift, but I was a little taken aback by the lack of matching patterns. One earring looks exactly like the illustration, the other does not. When I tried to return them for this reason, I learned it would cost almost *! I have been a Club O member for several years. I paid no shipping to receive these ** earrings, and I refuse to pay almost a third of the price to return them! I would not recommend these earrings. With this kind of customer service (I have not paid shipping in the past to return larger items) I don't think I will continue to recommend Overstock.com!
Did the color match the color displayed onsite? No. The color and patterns on the earrings did not fully match, which detracts from their beauty. The illustration clearly shows matching earrings
Please tell us about the quality of the product. The mismatched patterns indicates poor quality.
How accurate was the sizing? The sizing was accurate.
After waiting several weeks for the earrings to arrive, I was very disappointed when I opened the package. I was expecting vividly colored, handmade earrings, like the description. I honestly thought the earrings looked junky and mass-produced. I would not recommend this product.
Did the color match the color displayed onsite? No, not nearly as vivid.
Please tell us about the quality of the product. They looked machine-made and mass-produced.

Please check whether these earrings are in fact hypoallergenic. Nickel is included in the list of metals in Alpaca silver, and nickel causes the allergic reactions.twilightknitter on Sep 15, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question

Hello twilightknitter, These earring are stunning! I have confirmed that the hooks are hypoallergenic, but the actual earrings aren't. I hope this helps. Thanks for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on Sep 20, 2013
These earrings are really beautiful in person, but Overstock is wrong - the hooks are unfortunately not hypoallergenic. I'm allergic to nickel and bought them, and I'm definitely allergic to them.ab37 on Oct 16, 2014
Hi deesmess, We did some research online and found this :
Alpaca silver is a common name for a metal alloy, a combination of metals, of copper, nickel and occasionally other metals such as zinc, tin, lead or cadmium. The alloy also can be called nickel silver, German silver, new silver and paktong. It is used in a variety of manufactured commercial products, as well as in technical industries.
Alpaca silver was first used in China as a substitute for sterling silver. It made its way into Europe through traded goods, where it was marketed under the name of paktong or white copper. In the 18th century, several German companies adopted the use of a similar alloy, and in 1823 a competition was held to discover which alloy was the best silver imitation. Berndorf, a German manufacturer, sold their nickel silver products under the name Alpaca silver, and the term became commonly used throughout Europe. In 1840, a process called electroplating was developed, allowing a fine metal coating to be plated onto metal and non-metal object, which opened many new markets for nickel silver-plated goods.
For many years, Alpaca silver was a component in several European coins, including the Portugese escudo and the German mark. With the shift in currency to the Euro, these coins are now effectively out of circulation. A form of the alloy is also used in the U.S. nickel, although the composition of 75% copper and 25% nickel is called copper-nickel in America. should not use "silver" in its name - misleadingvegasstar on Apr 30, 2013
While the description states a hypoallergenic hook, could you please advise what metal the hook is made from as I have ULTRA SENSITIVE ears.
