Story Behind the Art:
Benita Cutipa says, 'I received a teaching degree in textiles. I always knew I wanted to do something that would help my country's development, and empower our women. I began organizing courses for groups of mothers and farm wives from the highlands. I decided to offer classes to people from marginalized neighborhoods, training them in handicrafts and forming cottage industries that would work with the region's natural resources.'

Classic! *But NOT a coat.
Wearing this makes me feel like I need to slip into the 30s! The material is incredibly soft, regardless of texture... Which is lovely! It is very light, and would be exquisite for the early Fall or in the Spring (North East/Central US); in LA I would wear this on cooler days... My only problem with this is that it is listed as a COAT, which it is definitely NOT. I am keeping this beauty because they sell out quickly (actually was very depressed when it disappeared from my basket, but happy when I received notice of it being restocked at 4am and bought it immediately!), and this is a definite upgrade in my wardrobe. The back closes like the front in this image, and the hood is more 3/4 than full. This is one classy piece of wearable art. Thank you!
