it was advertised as being sized for a 5" - 12" container. Maybe this refers to the length of the water when the fountain is turned on. The cross tubes of bamboo are barely wide enough to sit on a 5 inch opening. It is useless on my 11" diameter opening. In addition it fell apart almost before I got it opened--and it is very difficult to get the pieces back together--everything is slipping and sliding.
