Mine is much darker than in the picture. Almost black. The carving is good, but it was packed before the wood stain was dry, subsequently the paper was stuck to buddha's face, and peeling it off left marks. I have a wood touch up kit for scratches, and managed to fix it up ok. This was obviously made and shipped quickly, so quickly the wood was still wet. So not perfect, but for the money good enough.

This piece has received more compliments than almost anything else in my house. I have not had the opportunity to travel to Thailand but thanks to Worldstock, I can still enjoy artifacts from that country and even better is that someone else has made the selection, having taken the time to search for the perfect buddha. It is an elegant and intricate wood carving and remarkable how it is made out of one solid piece of wood. It is a beautiful piece of art which I shall cherish.

I've been to Thailand three different times and always wished I had bought a woodcarving of a Buddha. This one is of better quality than many I saw in the local shops. The carving looks just like the picture and it arrived in perfect shape - no dents or chips. The only thing I don't like about it is the cheesy metal hanger at the top which cheapens the overall effect. I need to replace it with a hanger that doesn't show, and for the price, that should have already been done.
