Story Behind the Art:
In the Hamadan area, 1500 villages specialize in their own designs, creating over 3000 variations. Although each village or group of villages has its own distinctive designs, they all have certain characteristics in common. This particular rug was made in the village of Wiss and was crafted by the Sultani family. In this family, there are three generations of family helping in the rug production; the grandmother, mother and daughters. The village women, aside from cooking and cleaning, spend approximately four hours a day weaving the rugs while the children are at school.
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.
Tip: We recommend the use of a non-skid pad to keep the rug in place on smooth surfaces.
All rug sizes are approximate. Due to the difference of monitor colors, some rug colors may vary slightly. We try to represent all rug colors accurately. Please refer to the text above for a description of the colors shown in the photo.
