I BOUGHT AN ORANGE PLANTER WITH NO DRAIN HOLE TO USE WITH THIS FOUNTAIN MECHANISM. YOU ONLY NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE POT BIG ENUF SO THAT THE STREAM GOES INSIDE THE POT AND THE BAMBOO FITS ON THE EDGE OF THE POT. NOT HARD TO FIGURE OUT AFTER IT ARRIVES AT YOUR HOUSE.

I was hesitant because bamboo water fountains range in price, and I have definitely seen similar pieces for much more. I was afraid I'd hear the old adage: "You get what you pay for." Luckily, with this product, you don't have to worry about that. Works quickly out of the box; I would suggest running it for a few hours and then replacing all the water before putting in any plants (or live fish).

Rather than two pieces of bamboo forming the base, the two I ordered arrived with a split piece forming the base of the fountain. This was a disappointment as I could have driven to a place which has the correct fountain. One pump of two arrived without its side control but it did work so I didn't bother to return it. Pumps are minimal in quality and strength.

• How is the quality of the product? Problem: there were not two pieces of bamboo at the bottom support, rather, one split in half. The pumps are very small, I used another pump. One of two pumps arrived without one side control - but it does pump water on and off so I didn't bother to return it. enbps wasued

The bamboo 12 water fountain spout and circulating pump was surprisingly versatile to install in a larger pot. At first I thought I should have ordered the larger size, but have come to appreciate the smaller scale of this one for the location near a porch sofa.

I decided to build my own fountain for relaxation purposes, and chose a nice handmade pot (with a thick rounded lip) as the container. I purchased this spout because it offered me flexibility with the design, and I am extremely pleased. It is effective and beautiful, and together with the pot has become a centerpiece of my indoor plants. Because the sound of the water pouring outright into the pot was a little strong for me, even on the lowest setting, I have the water stream aimed at the inner lip of the pot. The water catches on this lip and splashes down. A trickling (rather than pouring) sound results, and I really like this minor auditory adjustment. No water splashes out when I do this, and it doesn't look unusual. I love this fountain spout and I have already recommended it to many people!!
