First, this is not going to be the most useful light you can buy. The main light works good. The LEDs are for show or giving to kids as a toy. They run randomly in various sequences like some light show with a rock band. The grandkids love them, and maybe your kids or grands will also. But this is not a serious work or hunting light. I would not buy them again knowing how they actually work. Might be good for Halloween or a party gag, but you won't get any work done with the leds.
I issued my staff with these lights for working early mornings in the uk. They give out an extremely powerful light and are comfortable to wear. First rate product, tried to order more but currently out of stock 12.12.08

These were a gift for the kids and they had a great time playing in the dark basement with the lights off. The headlamps even have a colorful strobe-like setting which enhanced the party-like atmosphere. They are not broken yet! They are a bit bulky so I don't think I'd want to use them if I was serious about doing work/fun in a dark area, but they are perfect for the kids.
