Books Author: He is an expert primarily in body building so it makes sense that he would know how to "build the body for a sport". However, not all martial arts require the same training so make sure you get feedback from your instructor/sensei. To his credit he does state that the book does not teach any fighting techniques, just excercise routines and how to do the excercises. Contents: 2 sets of progams. Off-season and On-season training. Very simply laid out. Although I would like page references to the excercise descriptions the books' layout is well done. The program alternates training fast-twitch and slow-twitch mucles but there isn't much Peripheral Heart Training so make sure you get a good cardio warmup in there. The workouts DO challenge you if you follow instructions for max weight; if you do it right you will gain strength and power. Usability: Love the size of the book! Perfect for taking to the gym! Great for the sol martial art training and a good tool for the student.

This book really details what you're to do, step-by-step, to improve your speed, strength, and stamina. It goes from warm-up to cool-down, and everything in between. It can feel a bit dry if you're already somewhat seasoned, but the author knows what he's talking about.
