I received this pair of transceivers after reading several online reviews of them, not only at Overstock. It seemed that negative comments were due to a complicated manual, which tries to describe how to use some of the more esoteric features. While these radios do have some interesting security bells and whistles, the important thing is that they work as is, right out of the box. Turn on the power, and PTT makes the other one come alive. Pretty simple.They work in an RF-rich environment also, which is one reason I wanted them. I am in the nearfield of a 450 MHz 50-watt repeater, and a 1.2 Ghz 10W transmitter, as well as HF transmitters. These radios are undetectable, and are not interfered with. Very pleased.
Bought it to use between motorcycles. When using with half helmet, the mics would kick in with wind noise once over 25MPH. 3/4 helmet, they might work, but my straight pipes would also kick the mic in when reved. When not on the motorcycle, they seemed to work OK. It took a few minutes to get use to the voice activation, but the sound was clear. Haven't tried them over any real distance. For the price it was a good deal considering they have their own charging base and come with the voice activation headset.
