I would recommend the Father Metal Detector -- I think that the instructions/workmanship for the Son Metal Detector leave a lot to be desired though.

I bought this and I'm using it with my 7 year old daughter. We're having a lot of fun and it's a great father daughter activity. The product performs really well and we've found some cool items including a ring on the beach. I agree with the other write ups in that the kids metal detector is very basic - PERFECT for a 5 to 10 year old. I have a 12 year old son and I bought him the Sand and Surf. It's a wonderful family hobby.

I have been searching for a product in this category and couldnt have been happier than to find this item. It works great and my son and i have enjoyed it immensley. The child one is perfect for my 8 year old but would not recommend for a teenager.

I loved this product!!! I bought it 9-months ago and while buying another set as a gift, I decided to write a review. This set IS a FANTASTIC way to spend quality time with YOUR son OR daughter outdoors. We may have been looking for metal, but while exploring the ground you can find cool rocks, insects, and other things to pique your childs interest and spark educational conversations. I used mine without the headset.The adult metal detector was NOT a cheap unit. The other reviewer probably got unlucky and should have excahnged it. My wife lost a necklace somewhere in the garden. I broke out my metal detector and located it very quickly.The kids metal detector is obviously for young children, so I would not recommend it for children over 10. This is a great gift for Christmas or Father's Day.

first off i would like to say that the shipping was good and the price was ok . it may seem like a good product to buy because of the looks of it and because of the tittle FATHER/SON METAL DETECTOR but trust me once we got them we put them together the father detector was missing an inportant piece the son detector was just cheap. the father detector would not make any noises and the son detector would go off when you would put by anything even if it wasnt metal. thank you for your time please do not waste your time bying these and then having to return it.
