I have purchased three of these HO scale blue open wagon cars from Overstock, along with the green, the orange and the red open wagon cars. The different colors make a train look more interesting. The blue matches more closely to the new animated series. The older series with real O scale models have similar blue cars but are weathered with coal dust, rust, etc... I plan to do the same to the ones I have purchased. In addition I have added as cargo, black charcoal used for fish tank filters, to simulate medium to large size coal. The color contrast of black charcoal against this soft blue color looks excellent in a diorama/scenery. Contrary to the description, which is generic, these are not powered wagons. They are designed to hook on to a powered engine that you have to purchase separately (e.g. Thomas, Edwards, etc...) with the hook and loop couplers attached on either side. Interestingly enough the wheels are made of metal and the wagon has some weight to it. I know that some people complain that the wheels come off. These are of course the same people that give these model rolling stock to their 3 year old to play with. If the wheels come off, dont worry, simply attach them back. The wheels are designed to move smoothly and are replaceable. Overstock of course gets you the great pricing and the ability to get more for the buck. I would recommend that you purchase several of these to make the trains look more authentic. Great Purchase...Thanks Overstock!
- How accurate was the sizing? Sizing information is for the container and not for the product.
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. The wagon looks great and well put together. It lines up and rolls on the track very smoothly
- Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? Unlike some of the other Bachmann HO scale Thomas engines, which came broken or even unassembled, this was well put together.
