I was greatly disappointed to discover that this book is not a specific guide on weightlifting for softball, but a general weightlifting guide with an extremely brief and somewhat vague section on applying these basic weight techniques to improving your softball skills. Having searched through the Overstock site after seeing a book on weightlifting for any number of other sports, I purchased what I thought would be a highly specific (ultimate) guide to working on the muscle groups that would help me to become a better softball player. Undoubtably the other "ultimate weightlifting for -(fill in the blank with your sport)-books are done in much the same style. This series should be re-named "The ultimate way to get rich by writing one book with 12 different titles"....
This is the only book that I have from this author, but I think the routines discribed in the book are adequate for enhancing an individual's softball abilities.
I am an ACSM & ACE Certified Personal Trainer, former bodybuilder, and now a competitive runner. I purchased the Ultimate Guide for Softball to assist me in training a client who is a female softball player. Even though I've trained for over ten years, I learned a lot of new things. Training tips such as training the abs in a specific order and weight limitations on rotator cuff exercises are two of the many tips that I have learned. The pictures are great to refer to in case I am not familiar with a particular exercise. The book is helping me round out a more complete training program for my softball client. It has really helped me become a better trainer. I recommend it to all softball players and trainers with softball clients.
